To mark 175 years, Brown Thomas is hosting a retrospective exhibition on the fourth floor of its Grafton Street store until June 3rd. This immersive exhibition offers a journey through Brown Thomas’s rich history, showcasing notable moments while taking a fun and wistful look at bygone fashion trends and cultural influences that have defined the brand and Irish society.

The curation presents a broad tapestry of mementoes; delving deep into our archives, we have unearthed treasures ranging from vintage advertisements to newspaper editorials and fascinating photographs, including of celebrity visits such as that of Princess Grace in 1961. Guests will be able to relax and indulge at the exhibition’s cafe.

The design of the exhibition gallery draws inspiration from the window displays of celebrated Irish artist Norah McGuinness. Known for her association with the modern movement in Ireland and for her remarkable window designs in stores from Paris and London to New York, McGuinness designed Brown Thomas’s window displays over three decades from the 1930s. He artistic legacy serves as a fitting tribute to the brand’s heritage and innovation.

In celebration, Waterford has unveiled a specially created, commemorative vase inspired by the facade of the Grafton Street store. This exquisite piece is a blend of heritage and modernity that intricately mirrors the architectural detail of Brown Thomas, an enduring presence on Grafton Street.

As part of its anniversary festivities, Brown Thomas is thrilled to unveil an exclusive collection of Irish-made commemorative merchandise. Included are prints by Jando and Orla Walsh, a Duffy Notebook, La Bougie Candle, Foxford Woolen Mills throw and the Brown Thomas Bear, along with a tote bag, tea towel and mug featuring the instantly recognisable Brown Thomas store illustration, and a crystal decoration created by Waterford.
